Setting margins is an essential aspect of document formatting, and Google Docs makes it easy to achieve the desired layout.

Step 1: Open Google Docs

First, you need to open Google Docs from any popular web browsers by visiting this link - https://docs.google.com.

After opening Google Docs on your browser, you will need to create or open an existing document.

Step 4: Adjust Margins

The Page Setup dialog box window in Google Docs looks like this:

In the Page Setup dialog box, you'll see options to adjust the orientation (portrait/landscape), paper size, page colour, and margins

By default, Google Docs uses 2.54 centimetres margins on all sides - top, bottom, left, and right. This unit may differ from one country to another.

In the above screenshot, you can see that the margins are shown in centimeters instead of inches.

Now, remember that 1 inch = 2.54 centimetres.

So, if you're seeing 2.54 centimetres under margins, it means that 1 inch margin is already setup in your Google Docs document.

However, if you're seeing values other than 2.54 centimeter under margins, then you need to change the values to 2.54 to properly set up 1 inch margins in Google Docs.

For example, if you're seeing values like as shown below then you need to go to Page Setup and change all the values to 2.54 to make it equivalent to 1 inch.

Below, you can see that I have changed all the values to 2.54 centimeters which is equal to 1 inch.

Similarly, if you're seeing different values under Margins, just replace them with 2.54 to make them equal to 1 inch.
