Have you ever designed something beautiful in Canva, like a presentation, flyer, or Instagram post, and then realized you need it in another language?
Maybe you’re creating a social media campaign for international audiences, preparing a bilingual presentation, or just trying to impress your friends who speak Spanish, French, or Hindi.
I’ve been there! I once designed a poster in English for a client, and later they asked if I could deliver the same design in German. My first thought was, “Oh no, I’ll have to redo everything manually.” That would have taken hours.
Luckily, Canva has a built-in Translate tool powered by AI that does the heavy lifting for you. With just a few clicks, it can convert your entire design text into over 100 languages, without messing up your layouts, fonts, or styles.
In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of using Canva Translate. By the end, you’ll be ready to create multilingual designs quickly and efficiently.

How to Translate Canva Designs?
Follow the steps mentioned below to change the language of your design using Canva Translate.
Step 1: Open Your Design in Canva
First, log in to your Canva account and open the design you want to translate. This could be anything - posters, presentations, social posts, or even eBooks.
In the above screenshot, you can see that I have opened my design in Canva. Now, in the next step, we will attempt to translate the text in my design from the English language to another language.
Tip: Make sure your original design text is finalized before translating. This will save you from having to re-translate after making edits.
Step 2: Access the Canva Translate Tool
On the left-hand side panel, you’ll see “Apps”. Click it.
- Scroll down until you find “Translate” (sometimes listed under AI-powered tools).
- If you don’t see it right away, just type Translate in the search bar.
So, click Apps, then click on Translate as shown above. This opens up the Canva Translate app inside your editor.
Step 3: Choose Your Language
Once the Translate panel opens:
- Select the target language (the one you want to translate into).
- Please note that Canva automatically detects your source language.
Tip: If you see that Canva has incorrectly detected your source language, you can click on Edit under the option - Automatically detect current language to change the language.
To change the target language, click Select Language under Translate to and choose your preferred language. See the above screenshot.
For example, if your design is in English and you want to change it to Spanish, choose Spanish. Currently, Canva supports around 130 languages, including Spanish, German, French, Hindi, Swahili, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese, Chinese, and more.
In the screenshot below, you can see that I have chosen Spanish as my target language. Next, you'll be required to choose whether you want to convert all the text present on your Canva design or some particular text or texts.
Step 4: Pick the Pages You Want to Translate
In the screenshot below, you can see that I have chosen the option - Select text from current page. I selected this option as I don't want to translate my website name.
Note: If you have multiple designs, you also get the option to choose either the current page, multiple pages, or all the pages in your designs.
As you select the option - Select text from current page, you will be required to select the text that you want to translate. If you want to translate all the text, click on the Select all option.
Step 5: Generate the Translation
In this step, we will click on the Translate button to convert the text in our design into Spanish.
Click Translate. Canva’s AI will automatically replace the text in your design with the translated version. This usually takes just a few seconds, and the best part is, it keeps your fonts, colors, and formatting intact.
In the screenshot below, you can see that my text - Summer Sale and Up to 50% has been converted into Spanish from English.
Please note that Canva keeps your original design intact. All the translations are applied to the new page. In the screenshot below, you can see that translation has been applied to Page 2.
That's it. This is how we can translate Canva designs. By following the above process, you can easily translate designs into other languages using Canva Translate. I hope you now know how to translate Canva designs into different languages.
Let's see some other additional but optional steps just to check that our translated design is free from any grammatical or translation errors.
Step 6: Review and Adjust
No translation tool is perfect, even Canva’s AI. So, take a few minutes to review the design:
- Check grammar and context (sometimes phrases may sound too literal).
- Make sure text fits inside text boxes (especially for languages with longer words like German).
- Adjust line breaks or font sizes if needed.
Pro tip: If you know someone who speaks the target language fluently, ask them to quickly review it.
Step 7: Save or Share Your Translated Design
Once you’re happy with the final translated design:
- Click Share → Download to save it in your desired format (PNG, JPG, PDF, or even MP4 for videos).
- Or click Share → Public View Link to send it directly to your team or client, or anyone who has access to this link.
And just like that, you’ve turned a one-language design into a multilingual masterpiece without starting from scratch.
