Below I have mentioned all the steps required to replace an image from your Canva designs.

Step 1: Accessing Your Canva Account

First, you need to log in to your account in Canva. After the login, you need to open the design from which you want to replace your image.

Or, if you're creating a new design using one of the pre-built templates offered by Canva, you may want to replace the image which is already there on the Canva template.

So, whatever may the reason for replacing your image, the first step of this tutorial requires you to login to your account.

If you haven't created one yet, you can sign up for free from this link - https://canva.com.

Once you have successfully logged in, you'll be directed to your Canva dashboard, where you can access your existing designs or start a new one.

Step 2: Creating a New Design on Canva

For the sake of this tutorial, I will create a new design so that you have a clear idea of replacing images from a Canva design.

From the Canva dashboard, click on Create a design and select any design you want. Or, you can search for your design from the search bar also.

I have selected YouTube Thumbnail for this tutorial.

As you select a design, it will take you to the Canva editor from where you can choose any of the given ready-made templates.

Step 3: Selecting a Canva Template

In the below screenshot, you can see that depending on the design you had selected, Canva will offer you lots of ready-made templates on the left-side of your design.

Select a template that you like and it will be automatically applied to your design.

In the above example, you can see the template that I had selected.

On selecting the template, my blank design will now look like this (see the below screenshot).

Now, let's assume that we want to replace the image as marked by the arrow in the above screenshot.

Step 3: Replacing the Image

Now, that we have identified the image that we want to replace, now again click on Elements and enter your search term in the search bar.

For example, as I want to replace the existing image with a new image of a beach, I have entered the term - beach, in the search bar.

After entering the search term, press the Enter button.

Based on your search term, Canva will now show you different types of graphics, illustrations, Photos, and more.

Since we want to add an image, we will click on See all under Photos (see the above image).

Now, scroll through the images that you want to add to your design replacing the existing one.

In the below screenshot, you can see that I have already found the image that I want to add to my Canva design.

Now, to replace the existing image, you would need to drag your chosen image with our mouse and release it on the image only when you see a blue border on the image to be replaced.

Below you can see that I have dragged my chosen image over the image that I want to replace and released my mouse button.

You can see that I have successfully replaced the image with an another image of my choice.

This is how you can replace an image in Canva by following some easy steps as mentioned above.

Bonus Tips

If you don't want to use the photos offered by Canva, you can upload your own photos and use it to replace the existing photos/images.

To upload an image, you can click on the Upload link from the left of the Canva editor. Now, you need to click on Upload files to add your own custom image or images downloaded from other third-party stock photos website.
