How to Use Canva Color Picker Tool?
Below I have mentioned step by step how to use the color picker tool by Canva in your designs.
step 1
Log in to your Canva account. If you don't have an account, you can sign up for the free account here - Join Canva.
After you log in to your account, click on Create a design. Here, you can select a design from the suggestion or use the search option to find your own design (see the below screenshot).
In the above screenshot, you can see that I have selected the design - Instagram Post (Square). After selecting the design, Canva editor will open (see the below screenshot) where you get different options to edit your design.
step 2
Now, you need to select a template from the left of the Canva editor. There are lots of free as well as paid templates that you can use for your design. When you can hover your mouse over a template, it will show whether the template is free or paid.
For this tutorial, I've selected a Instagram template as shown below.
Before I demonstrate the use of Canva Color Picker tool, let me tell you what it is and what it does for your designs.
Canva Color Picker
The Color Picker by Canva allows you to select any color from the photo you're using in your design. You can find the Color Picker tool on the left-hand side of the editor. To make it appear, you need to select any element inside your design - text, image, etc..
step 3
In this tutorial, to show you how to use the Canva Color Picker, I will be changing the background color of the template I had chosen earlier.
First, you need to select your template. As you select the template, a Background Color option will appear at the top (see the below screenshot). As you click on this option, different color options will appear at the left of the screen as shown below.
Now, from the left of the screen, click on “Add a new color” under Document Colors.
As you click on Add a new color, it will show your currently selected color (green) along with its hex color code (#246A50).
Let's say we want to change the green background color of our template. In order to change this color, we will select the Color Picker tool by Canva located to the right of the hex color.
step 4
When the color picker is clicked, a magnifying glass appears on the screen. You can move this magnifying glass using your mouse on the screen and on the template to select the color you want.
To change the background color of our template, we will move the magnifying glass inside our template, and chose the color we want.
For example, in the below screenshot, I have chosen the blue color of the bucket in the template using the magnifying glass color picker.
To do this, I have move the magnifying glass and hover it over the bucket and click the mouse left button to change the green background color to blue.
This is how, you can use the Canva color picker tool to activate the magnifying glass to chose any color of your template to apply on other element inside the template.
