How to Make a Logo in Canva?
Designing a logo on Canva is super simple; it’s packed with creative, professional templates that make your brand shine. Here’s how you can create your own beautiful logo in just a few simple steps:
Step 1: Log in or Sign up
Start by signing in to your Canva account.
Visit Canva.com and log in with your existing credentials. If you’re new to Canva and do not have an account, you can sign up for free using your email or Google account.
Once you’ve logged in with your new or existing account, you will be directed to Canva’s Homepage.

Step 2: Search for “Logo” Templates
Open a blank document in Canva. To open a blank document, click on the Create button in the top left corner, and a new window will appear.
In the search bar at the top, type “Logo” and press Enter. Canva will show you thousands of ready-made logo templates across different niches such as fashion, business, food, tech, beauty, etc.
For example, if you are creating a logo for the tech industry. Type related words like "Tech, Digital, Software, IT" → Enter → scroll down and have a look at different templates and styles.
You can also search for logos related to your business idea or inspiration. Scroll down to have a look at different templates and styles.
Click on the template that best matches your idea, and it will open on the editing page. If you start by picking a template that fits your niche. You can always customize it later to match your brand completely.
In the screenshot below, you can see a logo that I have selected for the sake of this tutorial. In the next step, I'll customize this logo to make it my own.
Step 3: Customize the Design
You can easily change every elements of a logo. For example, in the screenshot below, you can see that I have changed the logo icon.
To change the icon of your logo, go to Elements tab on the left, search for your logo. I have entered - logo t, and then press Enter. Canva will now display hundreds of logo icons that you can choose.
Select one that you like and it will be added to your design.
You can also customize the logo text to match your brand or business. Replace the template text with your brand name. You can add multiple text entities → Add additional text boxes from the Text tab and position them as required for adding slogans or taglines, if any.
To change the text, select the text and enter your own text. To change the font of your logo text, select the text and select font and font size from the toolbar as shown in the screenshot below.
Choose a suitable color scheme. Every element on your template is fully editable. So click on any text, icon, or image and adjust the colors as per your choice.
Select the symbols or pictures by clicking on them → A toolbar will appear at the top of the screen, displaying the color palette used in logo design.
Click on the colors as shown above and adjust them to match your brand. You can also test different color schemes by changing the colors until you find one that fits your brand’s vision.
Tip: Arrangement is one of the most crucial things when you are making a logo. Ensure your logo is aligned correctly and exhibits a neat and clean look. You can place the icon and graphics above the text so it may not overlap.
Step 4: Test the Icons
The last step is to review the icon graphics and text to see whether they are clear and readable or not.
Shrink your logo as much as you can to see if it still looks sharp when scaled down. If it becomes unclear, try making a simpler design with a different color scheme.
Thus, before you download the logo, make sure everything looks balanced.
Align your text and icons properly. You can use Canva’s grid lines and positioning tools to center elements perfectly.
Step 5: Save and Export
Follow the below mentioned steps to download a logo in Canva:
- To save your logo, you need to click on the Share button that appears on the top right bar.
- By clicking on it, you will get different options such as copying the link, downloading, sending it to a specified person, or managing the access for who can see your designs.
- Click on the Download option.
- If you choose to download, you can adjust the size limit of the file, download with a transparent background, or compress the file quality.
- Choose the file type whether you want to download it as a standard PDF file, a JPG, or a standard PDF print. Choose PNG format for the best quality.
- After selecting all the options, click on the Download button to save it to your computer.
This is how you can make a logo in Canva and use it for your blog, online business, or for your social media pages.
Tip: If you want your logo with a transparent background, click on “Transparent Background” (available in Canva Pro).
Tips for Creating A Customized Logo
Here are a few personal tips I’ve learned from designing logos in Canva:
- Always use similar and consistent brand colors. It means your logo should match your brand’s overall color scheme.
- Keep font size simple and readable because complex fonts give a rough, tough look. Also, they are hard to read
- Ensure your logo looks good on both small icons and large banners.
- Balance the text and graphics of the logo. Ensure they are placed correctly without any overlapping.
- Try different color patterns, including black and white versions, to see if your logo still looks good without colors.
- To enjoy advanced tools and features like Brand Kit, you must buy the paid version of Canva to unlock more features.
